Founders and Artistic Directors, Kyle Davis and Sarah-Gabrielle Ryan

Born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Kyle Davis trained at Makaroff School of Ballet and on scholarship at the Rock School for Dance Education (now Rock School for Dance) and North Carolina School of the Arts (now University of North Carolina School of the Arts). He joined Pacific Northwest Ballet in 2008 under the direction of Peter Boal and rose to the rank of Principal Dancer. His repertoire at Pacific Northwest Ballet has included leading roles in classical productions and in works by choreographers such as George Balanchine, Donald Byrd, Alejandro Cerrudo, David Dawson, Ulysses Dove, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Jessica Lang, Edwaard Liang, Justin Peck, Crystal Pite, Alexei Ratmansky, Jerome Robbins, and Twyla Tharp.

During his career Kyle has performed on stages in notable cities Los Angeles, New York City, and Paris and has been welcomed as a guest artist with festivals and companies such as Ballet Sun Valley, Chop Shop Contemporary Dance Festival, Guggenheim Works & Process, Mari Meade Dance Collective, Olympic Ballet Theatre, Manteo Summer Dance Festival, South Dakota Ballet, the Seattle International Dance Festival, and Traverse City Dance Project.

Since 2012 he has choreographed over twenty original works for companies and schools including Pacific Northwest Ballet, South Dakota Ballet, Olympic Ballet Theatre, and Traverse City Dance Project. In 2017 Kyle served as choreographic resident at University of North Carolina School of the Arts under the direction of Susan Jaffe, and in 2020 he was named artist-in-residence at Gonzaga University Department of Theater and Dance.

Kyle has worked internationally as a guest rehearsal director for Bayerisches Staatsballet, English National Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, and Teatro alla Scala, and has worked alongside Alexei Ratmansky as assistant director on Tchaikovsky Overtures (2022), Coppélia (2023), and The Art of the Fugue (2025). From 2020-2022 he was vice-chair of launch and development for Moulin/Belle Art Residency in Perigord, France.

Kyle has taught company classes for Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet, and he served on faculty for Pacific Northwest Ballet School from 2012-2022. He has taught for ballet schools and intensives such as University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Rock School for Dance, Gonzaga University Department of Theater and Dance, Metropolitan Ballet, Ballet Sun Valley, Ballet Northwest, Olympic Ballet Theatre, Issaquah Dance Theatre, NEW Fusion Dance and Performing Arts, Green Bay School of Dance, and Makaroff School of Ballet. Virtually, Kyle has also taught for Worldwide Ballet Class, Ballet Together, and his own Covid pandemic digital program, Zoomer Course – which catered to the needs of pre-professional and professional dance artists residing on the West Coast.

His prizes and accolades include the Prix de Lausanne (2008), Youth America Grand Prix Junior Grand Prix Winner (2005), Youth America Grand Prix 1st place Contemporary and 2nd place Classical (2006), Princess Grace Award nominee (2014 & 2015), the Elizabeth Harriet Weaver Memorial Scholarship (2007), and the Martha and Spencer Lover Foundation Scholarship for Excellence in Dance (2007).

Kyle holds a Certificate of Management of Successful Arts and Cultural Organizations from the University of Maryland DeVos Institute of Arts Management. In 2024 he co-directed Green Bay Ballet Festival, and in 2025 he co-directed the Weidner Summer Dance Intensive.

Sarah-Gabrielle Ryan is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She studied on scholarship at the Rock School for Dance Education (now Rock School for Dance), Metropolitan Ballet Academy, and the School of Pennsylvania Ballet (now School of Philadelphia Ballet), and attended summer courses at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Ellison Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, the School of American Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet School. Sarah-Gabrielle joined Pennsylvania Ballet II (now Philadelphia Ballet II) in 2014 and joined Pacific Northwest Ballet in 2016, rising to the rank of Principal Dancer.

During her career Sarah-Gabrielle has performed as the leading ballerina in classical productions such as Coppelia, Giselle, and The Sleeping Beauty. She has also performed principal roles in ballets by choreographers George Balanchine, Alejandro Cerrudo, David Dawson, Ulysses Dove, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Jessica Lang, Edwaard Liang, Justin Peck, Crystal Pite, Alexei Ratmansky, Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp, and Christopher Wheeldon.

Sarah-Gabrielle has performed as a guest artist at Ballet Northwest, Ballet Sun Valley, Chop Shop Contemporary Dance Festival, the Seattle International Dance Festival, Shut Up & Dance in collaboration with MANNA, and South Dakota Ballet. In 2021, she appeared as a member of Matthew Neenan’s residency at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Additionally, Sarah-Gabrielle Ryan performed as a guest artist with Pennsylvania Ballet (now Philadelphia Ballet) in George Balanchine’s Diamonds during their PBS broadcast Pennsylvania Ballet at 50 and toured with the company to The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.

Sarah-Gabrielle Ryan was named Dance Magazine’s On the Rise in 2018 and was on the March 2021 cover of Pointe Magazine. In 2019 and 2021, she was nominated for the Princess Grace Award, representing Pacific Northwest Ballet. In June 2022, Ryan was featured on the face of the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center in New York City.

Sarah-Gabrille Ryan is a sought-after guest instructor, having taught at schools such as Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Rock School for Dance, DANCE4LIFE School of the Arts, Issaquah Dance Theatre, and Metropolitan Ballet. In 2020, Sarah-Gabrielle choreographed Before You Know It for PNB’S NEXT STEP to music by violist Alex Grimes and Solo commissioned by Gonzaga University Department of Theatre and Dance. In 2023, she created a new work for Pacific Northwest Ballet to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Ryan continues to choreograph and teach across the nation.

In addition to her dance work, Sarah-Gabrielle earned a certificate for Management of Successful Arts and Cultural Organizations from the DeVos Institute of Arts Management and served as the Vice-Chair of Community Engagement for the Moulin/Belle Arts Residency in Périgord, France. In 2024 she co-directed Green Bay Ballet Festival, and in 2025 she co-directed the Weidner Summer Dance Intensive.
